Brita test kit for measuring water hardness
Coffee drinks consist of up to 99% water. Water is crucial for the taste of the coffee and the durability of the portafilter machine or other equipment used.

Please note, a different test kit is used in the video. However, the basic process is identical.
For the Brita test kit, only 5ml of water should be used in the test container.
In addition, the color change of the Brita test kit is different than shown in the video.

Product features of the Brita test kit
- The kit is used to determine the total water hardness (GH) and to determine the carbonate hardness (alkalinity).
- The result serves as a basis for deciding on the right filter unit.
- After installing an under-sink filter , the carbonate hardness measurement results with the test kit are not meaningful for the first approximately 15% of the filter capacity. The filter releases a so-called potassium buffering to stabilize the PH value. This ensures the preservation of hydrogen carbonate and thus a measured carbonate hardness, which, however, no longer exists in reality.
Why do we sell the Brita test kit?
The reason for this is obvious. We want to enable the best possible coffee enjoyment, regardless of where you live and the local water quality. In addition, careless use of simple tap water can lead to premature calcification or even more serious damage to the portafilter machine. With this test kit you can test your water quality quickly and easily. The result allows you to quickly determine whether a water filter is necessary and, if so, which one.

Simply write us a short email with the following information:
- Test result (carbon hardness and total hardness)
- Estimated annual water consumption or
- Number of cups of coffee you drink per day (including ml per cup)

Der Tröpfchentest ist eine einfache Methode zur Härtegradbestimmung, sicher nicht superexakt, aber ein sehr guter Annäherungswert. Die Nutzung ist denkbar einfach, die Kaffeemacher haben, wie zu so vielem, ein eigenes kurzes Video dazu gemacht. Das ist zwar nicht 1:1 auf den verkauften Test anwendbar, aber man versteht absolut wie das funktioniert, wenn man sich den Beipackzettel noch kurz durchliest. Ich hab viel im Netz gesucht, es war auch noch das günstigste Angebot (Kombi Wasser- und Karbonhärte), das ich gefunden hab. Die Testflüssigkeit sollte für etwa 10 Tests (bei hohem Härtegrad) reichen, das ist aber nur eine vorsichtige Schätzung.
