Hario V60 Filter 02 - New glass design
Important information: unfortunately there are currently supply problems with this product (it will probably not be available again until the end of September), please take a look at the plastic version as an alternative.
The Hario V60 is considered the most widely used handheld filter in the coffee world—and for good reason. With its user-friendly design and the ability to experiment with numerous brewing techniques to create the perfect cup of coffee, it's an indispensable tool for coffee lovers. We, along with many other roasters, offer tried-and-tested standard recipes for the V60, making it fairly easy to replicate.
Product features
- Material: The filter is made entirely of glass, while the base is made of robust plastic. We also offer the Hario V60 in plastic , size 02.
- Ideal for coffee quantities of 15 to 30 grams: The V60 is particularly suitable for preparing coffee quantities between 15 and 30 grams of coffee powder.
- Practical use: The base allows the filter to be placed directly on a cup or a suitable carafe, such as the glass carafe from Trendglas Jena. The sophisticated design ensures that air can escape at any time, which is not the case with many other filters, such as the Chemex, and can hinder the water from draining.
- Conical shape: With a unique 60-degree conical shape, the V60 creates a deeper coffee bed. This allows for a more even extraction with smaller amounts of ground coffee compared to cylindrical filters.
- Built-in drainage ribs: These ridges on the edge of the filter promote the lateral drainage of the brewing water and catch fines (tiny coffee particles), making it unlikely that the filter will become clogged.
- Dishwasher safe: The hand filter is easy to clean and dishwasher safe.
- Heat-resistant: The plastic and glass used are heat-resistant up to 120 degrees Celsius.
- Versatile filter papers: A variety of different filter papers from different manufacturers offers plenty of scope for experimentation.
Brewing temperature and recommendations
The glass V60 is thermally stable, but absorbs a lot of heat from the brewing water. Therefore, we recommend a high brewing temperature of 96 to 99 degrees Celsius for preparing filter coffee. Lower temperatures should be used for darker coffees.
Standard recipe with the glass V60 for filter coffee
- Fold the paper filter along the fold tab and place it in the V60.
- Rinse the filter with hot water to remove the paper taste and preheat it.
- Grind 15-30 g of coffee (grind size like cane sugar) and calculate the amount of water in a ratio of 1:16. Example: 15 grams of coffee * 16 = 240 ml. Benjamin brews 18 grams with 300 ml of water, i.e., 6 grams of coffee powder to 100 ml of water.
- Pour the amount of coffee into the filter and place it on a scale.
- Completely cover the coffee powder at 18 g with about 50-60 g of hot water (98 degrees).
- Rotate the filter to moisten the coffee grounds evenly.
- After about 30 - 40 seconds, pour in a circular motion starting from the center of the powder until about half of the total amount of water (e.g. 150 ml) has been poured in.
- Once most of the water has drained, add the remaining amount of water in a circular motion. Then swirl it around again to loosen the coffee grounds from the sides of the filter.
- After 2:10 to 2:50 minutes the coffee should have dripped through (with 18 grams of coffee powder used).

Why do we sell the Hario V60 02?
We have many enthusiastic filter coffee drinkers on our team, and we use the Hario V60 extensively, both privately and at the academy. We like the design, the simplicity, the robustness, and, above all, the result in the cup. The V60 allows you to experiment with the full range of filter coffees. The V60 brews balanced coffees that have a good body and plenty of sweetness, while also balancing the acidity.
