Hario V60 Filter 02 - New design made of glass
The Hario V60 is considered the most used hand filter in the coffee universe - and for good reason. With its user-friendly handling and the ability to create the perfect cup of coffee through numerous experiments, it is an indispensable tool for coffee lovers. We and many other roasters offer tried and tested standard recipes for the V60, so re-brewing is pretty easy.
product features
- Material: The filter is made entirely of glass, while the base is made of robust plastic. We also offer the Hario V60 in plastic in size 02.
- Ideal for coffee quantities of 15 to 30 grams: The V60 is particularly suitable for preparing coffee quantities between 15 and 30 grams of coffee powder.
- Practical use: The base allows the filter to be placed directly on a cup or a suitable jug, such as the glass jug from Trendglas Jena. The well thought-out design ensures that air can escape at any time, which is not the case with many other filters, such as the Chemex, and can prevent the water from dripping.
- Conical shape: With a unique 60-degree conical shape, the V60 creates a deeper coffee bed. This allows for a more even extraction with smaller amounts of coffee grounds compared to cylindrical filters.
- Built-in drainage ribs: These ridges on the edge of the filter encourage the brewing water to drain sideways and catch fines (tiny coffee particles), making it unlikely that the filter will become clogged.
- Dishwasher safe: The hand filter is easy to clean and dishwasher safe.
- Heat resistant: The plastic and glass used are heat-resistant up to 120 degrees Celsius.
- Versatile filter papers: A variety of different filter papers from different manufacturers offers plenty of scope for experimentation.
Brewing temperature and recommendations
The glass V60 is thermally stable, but absorbs a lot of heat from the brewing water. Therefore, we recommend a high brewing temperature of 96 to 99 degrees for preparing filter coffee. Lower temperatures should be used for darker coffees.
Standard recipe with the glass V60 for filter coffee
- Fold the paper filter along the fold tab and place it in the V60.
- Rinse the filter with hot water to remove the paper taste and preheat it.
- Grind 15-30 g of coffee (grinding level like cane sugar) and calculate the amount of water in a ratio of 1:16. Example: 15 grams of coffee * 16 = 240 ml Benjamin brews 18 grams with 300 ml of water as standard, i.e. 6 grams of coffee powder to 100 ml of water
- Put the amount of coffee into the filter and place it on a scale.
- Cover the coffee powder completely at 18 g with about 50-60 g of hot water (98 degrees).
- Rotate the filter to evenly moisten the coffee grounds.
- After about 30 - 40 seconds, pour in a circular motion starting from the center of the powder until about half of the total amount of water (e.g. 150 ml) has been poured in.
- When most of the water has drained away, add the remaining amount of water in a circular motion again. Then rotate the filter once more so that the coffee powder comes away from the side walls of the filter.
- After 2:10 to 2:50 minutes the coffee should have dripped through (with 18 grams of coffee powder used).

Why do we sell the Hario V60 02?
We have many enthusiastic filter coffee drinkers in our team and we use the Hario V60 intensively, both privately and in the academy. We like the design, the simplicity, the robustness and, above all, the result in the cup. The V60 lets you play around with the range of filter coffees. The V60 brews balanced coffees that have a good body and a lot of sweetness on the one hand, and a good balance of acidity on the other.
