Shower Screen Conversion
The shower screen conversion is done in a few steps:
- Preparation: Ideally, heat the brew group to soften the rubber gasket.
- Disassembly: Use a filter remover, to find the edge of the old shower screen and pry it out. Alternatively, a teaspoon or a blind filter can be used (no sharp tools).
- Assembly: Insert the new IMS screen into the rubber gasket (note the direction). Remove the brewing screen from the portafilter and place the shower screen including the rubber gasket into it. Carefully clamp the portafilter and repeat the process.
Why do we sell the IMS shower screen?
We believe that you can make very good coffee with many different machines. But to get the most out of every machine, sometimes small adjustments are needed. Standard shower screens often do not distribute the brewing water evenly over the coffee grounds. This can lead to uneven extractions and even channeling. That's why it is often worthwhile to use a different shower screen. The IMS shower screen distributes the water much more evenly over the coffee grounds thanks to the arrangement of the holes. This further improves the result in the cup.

What makes good espresso?
What makes a good espresso or espresso-based drink is always subjective. Some like strong espressos with little acidity, while others prefer fruity espressos. These two extremes, however, are largely due to the choice of green coffee and the roasting process.
Everyone wants to get the most out of the extraction of roasted beans. However, this is influenced by many factors, such as: water, extraction time, brew ratio, brewing temperature, grinding result, etc. A good espresso is therefore a puzzle of many parts. With so many factors influencing the result in the cup, errors can of course occur. Here you can see a video by Benjamin and Michel about this:
