How is the grinding level of the Timemore Slim 3 adjusted?
- First, the mill must be unscrewed.
- Now the click wheel is set to "0" by turning the click wheel clockwise until it can't go any further.
- The click wheel is then turned the desired number of clicks (counterclockwise) in order to find the correct grinding level for the desired type of preparation or the portafilter machine.
- In our test we achieved a good result for filter coffee at 25 clicks and for espresso at 8.5 clicks.
- We recommend making a quick note of the tested settings when determining the grinding level in order to achieve a good result more quickly.
ATTENTION: Do not operate the grinder in click levels 0-5, otherwise the grinder can wear out more quickly.
Why do we sell the Timemore Slim 3?
We like the further development from the tried and tested Slim Plus to the Slim 3. With very dark roasts or older beans and coffee from the supermarket, the grinding degree setting of the Slim Plus reached its limits. With the Slim 3, the very fine grinding levels required are no problem. The reason for this is the improved grinder.
As with all grinders with a click system, it is sometimes necessary to play around with the amount of coffee in order to achieve an exact brewing ratio. Alternatively, the click wheel can also be placed between two levels. This worked quickly in our tests and in daily use.
Overall, the Timemore Slim 3 is a very well-made hand mill, with a stylish design, a wide range of uses and a good price-performance ratio. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative, you should take a closer look at the Timemore C3. If you don't feel like playing with the amount of coffee, you should take a look at the Comandante C40 MK4 in combination with the Red Clicks extension.
What to do if there is static charge in the regrind container?
If there is static charge in the ground container or if ground coffee gets stuck on the upper part of the grinder, we have a solution. If, after grinding, you loosen the bean container by just half a turn and tap it twice with your hand from below, the coffee will detach from the upper part of the grinder and the powder will lie cleanly in the container.
