Hario V60 Filter 02 - plastic

The Hario V60 is probably the most used hand filter in the coffee universe and rightly so. It is easy to use and still offers many possibilities for experimentation. The practical thing about the V60 is that we and many other roasters offer recipes for their coffees for the V60. So re-brewing is pretty easy.

The V60 is particularly suitable for coffee quantities between 15 and 30 grams of coffee powder - i.e. 1-4 cups of coffee.

Product features of the Hario V60 02

  • The filter is made of plastic. We also sell the Hario V60 filter made of glass
  • The filter is size 02 and is suitable for 1-4 cups of coffee
  • Thanks to the base, the filter can be placed directly on a cup or a suitable jug, such as the glass jug from Trendglas Jena .
  • Ideal robust and lightweight travel companion . For at home and on the go
  • V60 attachment filters have a 60 degree angled conical shape. The conical shape creates a deeper coffee bed, which ensures more even extractions than with cylindrical filters with smaller amounts of coffee powder (up to 30 grams of coffee). If we change the amount of coffee with a conical filter like the V60, the brewing behavior differs less than with hand filters such as the Kalita filter with a flat base.
  • The filter has built-in drainage ridges on the edge, which allow the brewing water and water to drain off to the side. This means that fines (smallest coffee particles) can be collected in many places on the filter and it is unlikely that the filter will become clogged.
  • The correct filter size is the 02 from Hario . To the filter papers ( click ).
  • The hand filter is dishwasher-safe and heat-resistant up to 120 degrees Celsius.

Standard recipe with the V60 glass for filter coffee

  1. Fold the paper coffee filter at the folded tab and place it in the V60. Place on the pot or cup.
  2. Rinse with hot water to remove the papery taste and preheat the filter.
  3. Grind the desired amount of coffee between 15g and 30g. Grind approximately so that the coffee powder feels like cane sugar. The amount of water can then be calculated in a ratio of 1:16. 15 grams of coffee * 16 = 240 ml of brewing water to be dispensed. Benjamin brews 18 grams with 300 ml of water as standard, i.e. 6 grams of coffee powder per 100 ml of water.
  4. To do this, pour the amount of coffee into the filter and place the coffee filter and jug on a scale.
  5. Add approximately three times the amount of coffee powder used to water at a temperature of approximately 98 degrees. With 18 grams of coffee powder used, this means approx. 50 - 60 grams of water. What is more important than the amount of water is that the coffee powder is completely covered with water.
  6. Remove the filter from the pot and swirl it in a circular motion so that the water really soaks all of the coffee powder.
  7. After approx. 30 - 40 seconds, starting from the center of the powder, pour in a circular motion until approx. half of the total amount of water (e.g. 150 ml) has been poured in.
  8. When most of the water has drained away, add the remaining amount of water again in a circular motion. Then swivel again so that the coffee powder comes off the side walls of the filter.
  9. With 18 grams of coffee powder used, the water should drip through in 2:10 to 2:50.

We have published a detailed guide on how to prepare filter coffee here .

Why do we sell the Hario V60 02?

We have many enthusiastic filter coffee drinkers in our team and use the Hario V60 intensively, privately and at the academy. We like the design, the simplicity, the robustness and, above all, the result in the cup. The V60 lets you play with the range of filter coffee. The V60 brews balanced coffees that, on the one hand, have a good body and a lot of sweetness, and on the other hand, the acidity is well integrated.
