The Home Barista Online Course is the first course on our new coffee-making e-learning platform . In over 30 video units and more than 2.5 hours of material, texts, and slides, we explain how to use an espresso machine at home. Our goal and aspiration: great espresso and cappuccino should no longer be a matter of chance!
The online course instructor is Michel Aeschbacher , who is joined by Felix Hohlmann, Philipp Schallberger, and Benjamin Hohlmann in individual lessons and excursions. Each contributes in their own areas of expertise, creating a comprehensive picture. Very concrete, directly at the espresso machine—online and digitally.
Home Barista Online Course and E-Learning
Home barista courses at the academy are a highlight for us every week (when it's not coronavirus-related). Participants bring their espresso machines to the coffee school, and we help with fine-tuning and get the most out of them together.
We've incorporated the experience we've gained over many years of teaching courses into the Home Barista Online Course . Our goal is to guide you step by step. Therefore, we've broken the course down into many short, concise lessons designed to provide direct answers to your questions. This allows you to jump back and forth between chapters and, by the end of the course, master the operation of your espresso machine.

E-learning and other courses
The Home Barista Online Course is the first fully developed online coffee course. We are already developing more courses. Our goal is to create a broad spectrum of different courses. In addition to the many videos that we will continue to publish on our Kaffeemacher YouTube channel , the courses are intended to provide a comprehensive overview in one area.
Coffee at home Roasting is one such topic. The course will cover everything from selecting green coffee beans and creating coffee blends to quality control of green coffee beans, developing roast profiles, and final testing of the results.
Other courses will cover the operation of different types of espresso machines, roasting systems for home use, or opening cafés.
Online knows no boundaries
A digital offering of course content has been planned for a long time.
The online offering doesn't replace a face-to-face course at our academy. However, it does provide an opportunity to delve deeply into the world of coffee and begin practicing and learning, or to deepen or review what you've learned.
For us, it's another tool to stay in touch with you and share our coffee knowledge and enthusiasm for good coffee.
The great thing is that we can also offer courses for coffee enthusiasts from northern Germany or Graz, Austria. Because online knows no boundaries. And because we enjoy it so much, we might even add one or two courses in other languages to our offerings.
We hope you enjoy trying it out and have fun with our first Home Barista Online Course!
