Taste: Chocolate, full-bodied, citrus

Origin of the beans: ⅓ each from Nicaragua, Brazil and alternating India/Guinea

Producers: Santa Rita & Friends, Apas, Planrich/Macenta Beans

Varieties: Caturra (Arabica), Catuaí (Arabica), Mondo Novo (Arabica), Canephora (Robusta)

Post-harvest process: washed, natural, honey

All our coffees are sold as whole beans.

Our Dreispitz Espresso Blend is perfect for anyone who enjoys a classic, balanced espresso but wants to explore the Italian horizons. A classic espresso with a modern twist. Whether the coffee comes from a portafilter machine or a fully automatic coffee maker, Dreispitz is simply perfect. Short, strong, uncomplicated, Dreispitz. In 2016, we started roasting in the Dreispitz district on the outskirts of Basel. Our espresso blend is dedicated to this bustling and creative area.

Why does the Dreispitz Espresso taste the way it does?

The tricorn hat is a blend of – who would have thought – three equally large Large parts: one-third each from Brazil, Nicaragua, and Guinea, alternating with India. The Arabica variety Mondo Novo from Brazil provides the grounds for the espresso. The coffee tastes of hazelnut and milk chocolate and creates a creamy texture. The Nicaraguan coffee from the Las Nubes and El Recuerdo farms—neighboring farms and neighbors of ours in Nicaragua—adds some complexity to the blend. It balances the blend with its beta-sour notes. Honey-processed Robusta from Macenta Beans in Guinea provides the classic espresso effect. The Robusta gives the blend a richness and a robust aftertaste. Depending on the season, we use washed Robusta from Plantrich in India as the Robusta component.
