Felix's Master Recipe – the AeroPress brew recipe

We love the AeroPress, and Felix is especially passionate about it. In 2015, Felix was the Swiss AeroPress Champion, represented Switzerland at the World Championship in Dublin, and is sharing his recipe:

1. Ingredients:

• 25 g coffee - relatively coarse grind (see example in the video below)
• 100 ml water (97 °C)

2. Preparation:

• Pour water in 20 seconds.
• Stir the water evenly for 20 seconds.
• Attach the filter and let the air out (should be done in 20 seconds).
• After a total of 60 seconds, turn the AeroPress.
• Press for 30 seconds until 1:30 min.
• Then add 100 g of water (bypass).

This AeroPress recipe with the bypass method has brewed many great cups. Felix Hohlmann used it to become the Swiss AeroPress Champion in 2016. The recipe was also used successfully with slight modifications at the German AeroPress Championship. Swiss Filter Coffee Champion Emi Fukahori, who later became World Champion, also used the bypass method in the 2018 Brewers Cup Compulsory Service.

Why are we selling the AeroPress XL?

We have been convinced by the classic AeroPress for a long time - only the quantity was often a limiting factor. Anyone who wanted to prepare several cups of coffee quickly reached the limits of the small version. Even for one person, the brewing volume was often tight unless you used the bypass method.

The new AeroPress XL solves exactly this problem: it takes the proven principle of the classic AeroPress but offers enough capacity for two to three cups. This makes it the ideal choice for anyone who doesn't want to brew just for themselves.
