Coffee prices are at their highest level since 1977. How will this affect the coffee trade and in what way?
The coffee trade should ensure stability in the coffee market, but it is currently in a precarious position itself. Minimal margins for traders and high prices for green coffee will shape the coffee world over the coming months.
To better understand "the trade," I am speaking directly with traders.
My guest in this conversation is Peter Lerch, who has worked across the entire coffee supply chain for almost 40 years, including as a trader.
He says that it is likely simply time to bring back the old virtues: listening, trusting, and focusing on long-term relationships.
