What makes the V60 NEO different from the classic V60?

The decisive difference is on the inside: The classic V60 has thick, curved ribs. The V60 NEO instead features 72 delicate spiral ribs that taper to 9 ribs at the bottom.

This structure changes the way water flows through. With the old model, water often found local channels or the filter would stick to the bottom, uncontrollably extending the brew time. The NEO keeps the filter paper gently at a distance. Water flows across the entire walls over a large area. For you, this means: You can grind finer without the filter clogging, and you benefit from faster extraction. This usually results in more sweetness and a clearer acid structure in your coffee.

Who should get the Hario V60 NEO?

It's worth it for two groups: First, for pour-over beginners who just want to brew good coffee in the morning without worrying about millimeter-perfect pouring technique. Second, for experimenters who love light roasts (especially naturals or co-ferments) and want to take them to the next level through finer grinding or extremely short brew times.

When you should stick with the classic V60 (ceramic/glass):
If you love the somewhat heavier mouthfeel of slower extractions, or if with certain very dense washed coffees you deliberately want the resistance of the classic dripper to artificially extend the extraction. In that case, the fast flow of the NEO might feel unfamiliar to you at first.
