In this two-hour online workshop, we will dedicate ourselves to the innovations in coffee evaluation. We will focus on the new protocol, the Coffee Value Assessment (CVA), and walk through the form using a live cupping session. Together, we will classify the new starting situation. The coffee package includes 250g.

We will also talk about the takeover of the Q-Grader program by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) and its consequences, the future role of the Coffee Quality Institute, and the resulting changes. What do these changes mean for us as Q-Graders and for other business areas along the value chain that deal with green coffee quality?

Online Workshop - Evolved Q

On April 24, 2025, the two coffee associations, Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) and the Coffee Quality Institute (CQI), announced the takeover of the Q-Program by the SCA during the Expo in Houston. We aim to put into perspective what has caused a lot of excitement and turmoil in the industry. As of October 1, 2025, the SCA will take over the authority of the Q-Grader program and thus the assessment of coffee quality.

During two hours, we will discuss the implications and consequences for the various stakeholders together and taste a coffee using the new form. Using a practical example, we will discuss the Coffee Value Assessment and its advantages and disadvantages. This includes, among other things:

• How do I use the new form? (Use of Form)

• What is the goal of the CVA?

• What are the changes compared to the old score sheet?

• How do I evaluate the individual attributes?

• What do I need the four forms for?

• How can I integrate them into everyday life?

• What does the CVA tell me about the coffee?

• How do I communicate with producers based on the CVA?

• Is there a score?
