The coffee world has been turned upside down since the Covid pandemic. Delivery delays, high coffee prices, challenges for producers, traders and roasters. On top of that, frost and drought in Brazil – nothing is as it was recently. This podcast is intended to be a compass for everyone in the coffee industry to navigate through the coming months.
In this episode, I look back at everything we've discussed in this podcast. I'll pick out highlights from the conversations and add my own thoughts.
What's next?
This podcast will enter a new round in early summer: then the future of coffee will be the focus - Coffea Futurica.
Thank you for the lively discussions, input, and listening.
We'll hear from you.
"Specialty coffee is neither a protected term nor a mark of distinction that you can rest on. Rather, specialty coffee is a mandate to do things better. And that includes involving everyone. Just as the SCAE at least once envisioned in the early days: from seed to cup."
"as long as we help coffee production continue, buy more coffee, pay more, and do more to make coffee even better, then we are not really helping those who grow coffee, but actually only ourselves."
"We at Kaffeemacher:innen have spoken with Kleber several times. And I am always impressed by how naturally he can say things that others cannot. He can do this because he works according to principles, and has done so for decades. And especially in uncertain times like these, that pays off. So: for all roasters, this means that stable partnerships are always better in an emergency. And in general anyway."
