He finally did it! In his sixth participation, Felix Hohlmann becomes Barista Champion at the German Barista Championship in Bremen. And that's not all. David Wistorf also secures the runner-up title in the German Brewers Cup.
In Bremen, from February 25th to 27th at the Gastro Invent trade fair, the German SCA Coffee Championships in the disciplines of Barista, Latte Art, and Brewers Cup took place. Two participants from our team, Felix Hohlmann (Barista) and David Wistorf (Brewers Cup), competed.
Felix Hohlmann wins the Barista Championship
With a confident performance, Felix Hohlmann wins the German Barista Championship with a Colombian coffee and a coffee from Nicaragua. This qualifies him for the World Championship, which will take place in Busan, Korea, at the beginning of May.
Anja Fürst and Osama Shammo follow in second and third place.
For the espresso, Felix used a coffee from Colombia. The coffee was grown by Jorge Elias Rojas Vasques at Finca La Roca. It is a Red Gesha, the coffee was depulped and anaerobically fermented. Felix also prepared the signature drink with this coffee.
For the milk beverages, a coffee from Dona Maria Eugenia was used. The coffee comes from the Monsonte region in northern Nicaragua and is a Bourbon Tekisic, which was also anaerobically fermented.
David Wistorf becomes German Vice Champion in the Brewers Cup
David Wistorf showed a very strong performance in the German Brewers Cup. David brewed his way to second place among filter coffee brewers with the same coffee that Felix used for espresso. 1st place went to Luthfan Satrio Pradipto and 3rd place to Jason Darien Riadi.
David is co-manager of our shop, works as an accountant and in quality control. He also gives filter coffee courses with us.
