He's finally done it! In his sixth participation, Felix Hohlmann becomes Barista Champion at the German Barista Championship in Bremen. And that's not all! David Wistorf also secures the runner-up title in the German Brewers Cup.
The SCA German Coffee Championships, featuring Barista, Latte Art, and Brewers Cup, took place in Bremen from February 25th to 27th at the Gastro Invent Messe. Two participants from our team, Felix Hohlmann (Barista) and David Wistorf (Brewers Cup), competed.
Felix Hohlmann wins the Barista Championship
With a commanding performance, Felix Hohlmann wins the German Barista Championship with a Colombian and a Nicaraguan coffee. He thus qualifies for the World Championship, which will take place in Busan, Korea, at the beginning of May.
Anja Fürst and Osama Shammo follow in second and third place.
Felix used a coffee from Colombia for the espresso. The coffee was grown by Jorge Elias Rojas Vasques on the Finca La Roca. It's a Red Gesha, the coffee was depulped and anaerobically fermented. Felix also used this coffee to make his own concoction.
For the milk drinks, Dona Maria Eugenia coffee was used. The coffee comes from the Monsonte region in northern Nicaragua and is a Bourbon Tekisic, which was also fermented anaerobically.
David Wistorf becomes German runner-up in the Brewers Cup
David Wistorf delivered a very strong performance in the German Brewers Cup. Using the same coffee that Felix used for espresso, David took second place in the filter coffee brewing category. First place went to Luthfan Satrio Pradipto, followed in third place by Jason Darien Riadi.
David is co-manager of our shop, works as an accountant and in quality control, and also teaches filter coffee courses with us.
He invests his great passion in our filter coffee subscription. Every month, he presents a filter coffee in a livestream and searches for the most interesting coffees for the Adventure Filter Coffee Subscription .
