First of all, we haven't tested Fellow's new coffee grinder yet. But the new grinder announced for the first quarter of 2023 certainly looks exciting. The Fellow Opus is designed as a filter coffee grinder, but according to the manufacturer, with its 41 grinding settings, it can also grind to espresso fine. The Opus has been announced for the American market with a price of $195.
The coffee grinder has a 41 mm conical burr, which clearly distinguishes it from the Fellow Ode 2. The Ode uses flat burrs measuring 64 mm. The move to a conical burr is certainly one that brings the grinder into the more affordable price range. Conical burrs with smaller diameters are generally cheaper than flat burrs.

How does the new Fellow Opus taste?
It's too early to make any conclusions. With the Ode 2, Fellow has introduced an exciting home coffee grinder for filter coffee. The grinding discs could be replaced with SSP grinding discs, transforming the Ode 2 into a sensational grinder.
Conical burrs tend to have more fines, which can affect the taste of the coffee. How this will work with the Opus remains to be seen.
Fellow has certainly learned their lesson and is now releasing the Opus with the improved anti-static technology that the second generation Ode had. The first generation, in fact, produced so many fines that a vacuum cleaner was needed after grinding.
As soon as we learn more about the Opus or can get one to test, we'll keep you updated.
Availability of Fellow Opus
It's still completely unclear when the Opus will be launched in Europe and what its availability will be. So far, the older Ode models are still predominantly being sold in Europe, rather than the newer Generation 2 models.
So keep your eyes peeled. As we review the Fellow Opus, we'll, of course, take a closer look and update this article.
The Fellow Ode 1 or 1.1 is available in Switzerland from Drip Roasters or Kaffeezentrale , for example. In Germany, the Ode is available from Moka Consorten, Amazon* , and other retailers. Always check which version the retailer sells.
As I said, we haven't found version 2 yet. If you see it somewhere, please post the link in the comments, and we'll update this article.
