After the successful first edition of our coffee quiz during the Home Barista Championships in autumn 2023, we are going into the next round with a new edition on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. Anyone with access to YouTube and a desire to test their coffee knowledge can participate.
What is the quiz about?
The game is all about coffee knowledge. From general questions about coffee cultivation and processing to detailed knowledge of coffee machines and grinders, and even very specific know-how about us Kaffeemacher:innen - we test your knowledge.
How does the game work and who wins?
The game lasts 60 minutes and includes 20 questions on a wide variety of coffee topics. The answer time varies depending on the difficulty of the question, ranging from 20 seconds to 1 minute. The questions appear simultaneously on the YouTube stream and on Kahoot! (app or browser). You answer the questions on your mobile device.
The questions appear in different formats. There are the classic questions with 4 answer options, just like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. One or more answers can be correct. We also ask estimation questions that can be answered using a slider. The third variant consists of sorting questions, where the answers must be put in the correct order using drag & drop.
The quiz is won by the player who answers the 20 questions correctly fastest. Speed and accuracy are therefore key.
How can I participate?
You need two devices to participate.
Firstly, we recommend a laptop or computer to follow the stream on YouTube. Secondly, you need a mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone to log in to Kahoot! and thus the game.
We create the quiz using Kahoot!, a platform that is also popular in educational settings for playful learning. You can log into our game via a QR code, which we will share with you via YouTube shortly before the game starts. No personal Kahoot! account is required for this. However, if you wish, you can download the app. This has the advantage that if you lose your connection, you will not be dropped from the game but can rejoin when you reconnect.
We advise you to register with your first name and not a nickname. This makes it easier for us to link you on social media if you place in the top ten.
Who can play?
Everyone who wants to compete with the community can play. The only exception is the entire Kaffeemacher:innen team.
Participation is possible regardless of location. You only need a stable internet connection and access to YouTube and Kahoot!
What can I win?
In this first new edition since the Home Barista Championships, we will meet for an entertaining hour and some lovely time together in the community. Although the fun is the main focus, there will of course be a winner ranking with the top 10. The top three will receive a small surprise from the roastery.
Who can help me with technical problems?
In the event that logging in or participating in the quiz doesn't work, we will be available to assist you via the chat in the stream and do our best to support you remotely.
If you cannot log in on time or have to quit early, you will not be able to participate in the quiz, but you can still watch the stream afterwards.
How much does it cost to participate?
Participation is free this time.
When will the online quiz take place?
The quiz will take place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM. Registration for the game is open from 7:15 PM for 14 minutes until 7:29 PM directly via the YouTube stream. There we will announce the login for the quiz platform Kahoot! No pre-registration is necessary - just be in the stream on time and scan the QR code.
