Following the successful first edition of our coffee quiz during the Home Barista Championships in autumn 2023, we are going into the next round on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, with a brand-new edition. Anyone with access to YouTube and a desire to test their coffee knowledge is welcome to participate.
What is the quiz about?
The game is all about coffee knowledge. From general questions about coffee cultivation and processing to detailed knowledge about coffee machines and grinders, as well as very specific expertise about us Kaffeemacher:innen – we will put your knowledge to the test.
How does it work and who wins the game?
The game lasts 60 minutes and includes 20 questions on a wide variety of coffee topics. The response time varies depending on the difficulty of the question and ranges from 20 seconds to 1 minute. The questions appear simultaneously in the YouTube stream and on Kahoot! (app or browser). You answer the questions on your mobile device.
The questions appear in different formats. There are the classic questions with 4 possible answers, just like in "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire." One or more answers can be correct. We also have estimation questions that can be answered using a slider. As a third variation, there are sorting questions where the answers must be put in the correct order using drag & drop.
The winner of the quiz is the person who answered the 20 questions correctly the fastest. Speed and accuracy are therefore required.
How can I participate?
To participate, you need two devices.
Firstly, we recommend a laptop or computer to follow the stream on YouTube. Secondly, you need a mobile device such as a tablet or smartphone to sign up for Kahoot! and therefore the game.
We are creating the quiz via Kahoot!, a platform that is also popular for playful learning in school contexts. You can log into our game via a QR code that we will share with you on YouTube shortly before the start of the game. A personal Kahoot! account is not required for this. However, anyone who wants to can download the app. This has the advantage that if there is a connection problem, you won't drop out of the game, but can rejoin once the connection is restored.
We advise you to sign up with your first name and not a nickname. This makes it easier for us to link you on social media if you place in the top ten.
Who can join?
Anyone who wants to compete against the community can take part. The only exception is the entire Kaffeemacher:innen team.
Participation is possible regardless of your location. You only need a stable internet connection and access to YouTube and Kahoot!
What is there to win?
In this first new edition since the Home Barista Championships, we are meeting for an entertaining hour and some lovely moments together in the community. Although fun is the main priority, there will of course be a winner ranking with the top 10. A small surprise from our roastery awaits the best three.
Who can help me with technical problems?
In case logging in or participating in the quiz doesn't work, we are here to help via the chat in the stream and will do our best to support you from afar.
Anyone who cannot log in on time or has to leave early cannot participate in the quiz, but can still watch the stream afterwards.
How much does participation cost?
Participation is free of charge this time.
When does the online quiz take place?
The quiz will take place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 7:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Registration for the game starts at 7:15 PM for 14 minutes until 7:29 PM directly via the YouTube stream. That is where we will announce the login for the quiz platform Kahoot!. No prior registration is necessary – just be in the stream on time and scan the QR code.
