Schweizer Kaffeemeister 2018 gekrönt – die Rankings

The champions have been found! Emi Fukahori is the new Swiss Brewers Cup champion. Mathieu Theis is the 2018 Barista Champion. Gijtipong Gap Thansubutr is and remains the king of latte artists. Three passionate coffee professionals have thus crowned their achievements of the past few weeks with gold. We offer our heartfelt congratulations!

We were privileged to experience an exciting championship from March 7th to 9th at Zurich's Kaufleuten. We saw many new faces, exceptional coffees, interesting presentations, and several premieres. All of this took place as part of Coffee Friday at Zurich's Kaufleuten.

    3. Madia Sabirova, Cafe Grande, Team Henauer Coffee
    4. Philippe Gobat, Dali Latte Gob_art
    5. Tania Fisler, Cafe Grande, Team Coffee Lab
    6. Sai Rong, Yumi SA

    Brewers Cup Ranking

    1. Emi Fukahori – Mame, roasted with coffee by Coffee Collective
    2. Benjamin Hohlmann – Coffee Makers
    3. Antonio Cardoso – Adcubum AG, coffee roasted by Henauer Kaffee
    4. Michal Otte – Kafischmitte
    5. André Huber – Kialoa , coffee roasted by Ditta Artigianale
    6. Benjamin Schütz – Cafemanufaktur Solothurn

    Many premieres and remarkable events

    • For the first time ever, Cafemanufaktur Solothurn participated in the coffee championships. Benjamin Schütz not only participated, but also roasted the coffee himself. He reached the finals and achieved a very respectable 6th place.
    • The Coffee Lab has developed into an outstanding latte art training center. Veteran Milo Kamil now shares his knowledge there. His students were represented in the finals several times. Suki finished second, despite having over 40 seconds of overtime. We look forward to exciting years of latte art with such strong talent.
    • This year, Vassalli AG has been the championship's machine sponsor. They're unveiling their new flagship, the Faema E71. Like every competitor in a championship, the Vassalli crew was nervous about how their debut would go. All we can say is: fantastic! You did a fantastic job, and we look forward to the next few years with you and your team.
    • Nina Rimpl also experienced a first. The 2014 Barista Champion, via the international WBC judge, has now become the main organizer of the championship. And she did an excellent job. Rumor has it that her shoes need new soles after the miles she's racked up over the past few days, but the championship was on time, and Nina, from the background, created a wonderful championship platform for the judges, participants, and spectators. Thank you very much!
    • Another first was André Eiermann, who, as the board's designated media representative, organized top coverage of the championships. A big thank you goes to him, all the volunteers, and the Kaufleuten team for their efforts over the past few days.
    • Our emcees also rocked beyond compare. Dani Hofstetter and Martin Egger hosted the championship for three days and provided a wonderful leitmotif throughout the event. Thank you so much!
