AeroPress - the original - including 100 filters
Hardly any other brewing tool has such a cult status as the AeroPress. The variation possibilities with the AeroPress are enormous and the results are excellent. The AeroPress is easy to use and offers a steep learning curve due to the many possibilities for experimentation.
The advantage of the AeroPress over other brewing tools: You can completely determine the contact time between water and coffee yourself. Other important influencing factors such as the temperature, the pressure - with which the water is ultimately pressed through the coffee - the movement in the AeroPress and the choice of filter can also be determined individually.
Background of AeroPress
In 2005, American inventor Alan Adler scored a hit with the AeroPress. The AeroPress also comes with replacement filters, a stick for stirring and a spoon. The spoon is used to pour the coffee into the AeroPress. The AeroPress is easy to clean and is also suitable for the dishwasher. The capacity is 305ml. The scope of delivery includes 100 paper filters.
Replacement filters are available made of paper or metal .
Felix's master recipe - the AeroPress broth recipe
We love the AeroPress and Felix especially does. In 2015 Felix was Swiss AeroPress Champion with the AeroPress and represented Switzerland at the World Championships in Dublin:
- 25 grams of coffee - relatively coarse grind (see example in the video)
- 100 ml water, 97 degrees. Give up in 20 seconds.
- Then stir evenly for 20 seconds.
- Open the filter and let the air out. Should be done in 20 seconds.
- After a total of 60 seconds, turn the AeroPress.
- Then press for 30 seconds until 1.30 min.
- Then add 100 g of water (bypass)
This AeroPress recipe using the bypass method has brewed many good cups. Felix Hohlmann was the Swiss AeroPress Champion 2016. The recipe was also successfully used with slight changes at the German AeroPress Championship. The Swiss filter coffee master Emi Fukahori and later world champion also brewed using the bypass method in the Compulsory Service of the Brewers Cup in 2018.
What is Bypass?
"Bypass" is also a suitable method if coffee with "normal" brewing tends to become too bitter. When you work with bypass, you don't force all the water past the coffee, which means there is less triggering. Instead, add some of the water to the concentrate after brewing.
