The Profitec Pro 600 is an interesting dual-boiler espresso machine from the manufacturer based in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Featuring two PID-controlled boilers for steam and brew water, two pressure gauges, and a vibration pump, the Profitec Pro 600 is one of the more affordable dual-boiler espresso machines. The stainless steel boilers have a volume of 1 liter for steam and 0.75 liters for brew water. The steam boiler can be switched off, which significantly reduces power consumption.
The Profitec Pro 600 is equipped with a Faema E61 brew group and therefore accommodates portafilters with a diameter of 58 mm. This also makes the machine compatible with standard baskets and tampers.
In addition to the Profitec Pro 600, there are many other dual boilers on our test list.

Heat-up time for the first espresso
After just a few minutes, the machine indicates that the boiler has reached its target temperature. However, this does not correspond to the effective brewing temperature prevailing at that time. We measured temperature curves after 10 and 15 minutes and were still far from the target temperature even after a flush to warm up the portafilter.
No surprise here! Espresso machines with Faema E61 brew groups usually need 25 minutes to truly reach the target temperature. This is also the case with the Profitec Pro 600.

After 25 minutes, the Profitec Pro 600 reaches the target temperature with a flush. During extraction, the espresso machine is then consistent and precise. That is a joy.

When testing the Profitec Pro 600 with the WBC protocol, we were able to determine that the Profitec is by no means overwhelmed by a high rate of 35 seconds between extractions. In fact, the espresso machine then tends to overheat. The protocol makes it clear that the machine is very consistent once it has reached its target temperature after a longer warm-up period. It is then very precise and cannot be thrown off track as long as the frequency of extractions is not increased too much.

The following curve shows the power consumption of the Profitec Pro 600 over 25 minutes.

This article and text will be updated further. The second part of the video and another report based on the standard of our new test protocol will follow.
What are your experiences? What should we look out for? What do you like and what don't you like? Feel free to write to us in the comments so that we can test these experiences with our own unit.
Thanks in advance,
