Home Barista: Short & Strong – Your Espresso Foundation in 165 Minutes
Do you want to learn how to pull a perfect espresso in a short time? In our intensive "Short & Strong" format, we concentrate on the essentials for 2 hours and 45 minutes, so you can truly master your portafilter machine.
What awaits you in the compact class:
Grinder & Extraction: We show you how to precisely adjust the grind so that the espresso flows perfectly.
Machine Check: We discuss the pros and cons of different types of home machines – ideal guidance if you're considering a new purchase.
The Element of Water: We clarify why water quality determines taste and how you can optimize it.
The Classics: You'll learn how to prepare espresso, cappuccino, and Americano, and you'll get hands-on experience with the machine.
Care & Maintenance: A clean workspace is essential – we show you how to properly clean your machine so it brings you joy for a long time.
Milk Froth Intro: We'll give you an initial insight into frothing milk and try it out together (for intensive latte art training, we recommend our advanced courses).
Your Setup On-Site: Unlike the full-day course, we do not work with self-brought equipment here. At our specially equipped home barista bar, each participant has a professional barista station with their own machine and grinder. This allows us to get straight into "doing" without any loss of time.
The Goal: By the end of the course, you'll know the techniques for the perfect shot and have a clear idea of what equipment suits your lifestyle.

We'll roll up our sleeves together and guide you step-by-step into the subject matter, so you can start right away at home with real professional knowledge.

Moritz Hohlmann
From wood to coffee: Moritz is a master carpenter and the "maker" behind many projects at Kaffeemacher:innen DE. Since 2023, he not only manages our shipping and in-house workshop but also stands as the head of the academy in Dinslaken for quality and technical know-how. When he's not maintaining machines or optimizing processes, you'll find him as a course instructor at the academy. There, in the Home Barista 1 and Short & Strong courses, he shares his knowledge about perfect extraction and the mechanics behind it.
Michel Indelicato
is head of our coffee school and a member of the management board of Kaffeemacher GmbH. The trained chef is now a Q-Arabica Grader, roaster, and coffee trainer. In his over ten years in coffee, he has successfully founded a coffee roastery and supported numerous cafés and roasteries in establishing and optimizing processes.
