Practical tips for the Delonghi Dedica
1. What to do if the portafilter splashes?
Cause: The splashing of the portafilter is often caused by so-called channeling - the coffee flows unevenly through the sieve.
Solution: Precise work and firm tamping (pressing the coffee) help to reduce channeling.
Make sure to fill the sieve sufficiently (e.g. with 16g APAS ) to minimize the risk of channeling.
2. Wet coffee puck after brewing?
It is normal for the DeLonghi Dedica to often leave a wet coffee puck.
Tip: Leave the portafilter clamped in for a while after brewing to allow excess coffee to drip off.
Place a cup under the portafilter to catch any drips.
3. After drawing – wait a moment!
After the brewing process, there may still be pressure on the portafilter.
Note: If you remove the portafilter immediately after brewing, the coffee may slosh. Therefore, wait a few seconds before removing the portafilter.
4. Working cleanly with the measuring cup
Use a measuring cup (51mm) to fill the ground coffee cleanly into the portafilter and create less contamination.
5. Working with a scale
A coffee scale Guarantees consistent results. This allows you to precisely control the grind size and amount. Find more espresso preparation tips here.
